Who is Michael Peck?   He isn’t a model son, he isn’t at the top of his class, or a band geek, or even a science nerd.  No, he’s just Peck (Keir Gilchrest, “United States of Tara,” It’s Kind of a Funny Story) and the only thing he seems to be is ignored. His one companion, Geiger (Kyle Kaplan, “10 Things I Hate About You”), is more interested in getting into trouble, which alienates his timid friend even more.  But there is also Emily (Brie Larson, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) , a beautiful and popular senior who befriends the awkward boy.  

 

When Peck's overbearing parents (Marcia Cross, “Desperate Housewives” and Adam Arkin, “Boston Legal”) enroll him in the school science fair, he runs the risk of becoming even more of a social outcast. But Peck has a brilliant plan: he'll create a project so outrageous it will rock the school and simultaneously get even with his parents. And maybe, just maybe, he won't be just Peck to Emily anymore. Emmy-winner Camryn Manheim (“The Practice”) co-stars as the school principal in this smart and surprising film.
